The Wines | v. 2024

The 2024 growing season gave us everything we look for in the Eola-Amity Hills: cool nights, slow ripening and fruit that held its tension all the way to harvest. 2024, in many ways, is a vintage of a time gone by. The picks were all in late September and the resulting wines have all of the classic Oregon characteristics that helped put this region on the map. Recent runs of warm vintages since 2014 have made the 2024 style of wines taste and feel very special to me as these cooler vintages with later harvests become increasingly rare. In comparison to the 2023s, the wines are lighter in body, lower in alcohol and higher in acidity. The 2024s across the board have tremendous energy and transparency coupled with delicate and delineated flavors and aromas.

All wines are fermented with ambient / native yeast and all ferments start spontaneously with no temperature control. All grapes are de-stemmed and then fermented in open top stainless steel tanks for a period of 15-17 days before being put into a mix of new and neutral 228L french oak barrels. The wines spend 12 months on the lees before being racked to tank to clarify naturally for 2-3 months before being bottled unfined & unfiltered in December. They then rest in bottle for 7 months before release.

2024 Orchard House Pinot Noir

The predominantly iron-rich Jory soils at Orchard House vineyard give the wine a powerful, spicy and dark profile that leans toward black fruits with a distinctly savory edge and the texture of velvet. The 2024 is dense and muscular with a floral and smoky aromatic profile. The fruit expression is a combination of dark red and black fruits. This wine will reward some time in the cellar to integrate and express all of its complex layers. Cellar now for a couple years and drink for the next 10+.

2024 Eola-Amity Hills Rosé

In 2024 the Eola-Amity Hills Rosé is 100% Pinot noir and the vineyard blend is 62% Orchard House, 28% Folly of Man and 10% Nuestro Sueño. It was made with the saignée method and juice was bled off from the red wine ferments after 24 hours of skin contact and then fermented in barrel as a white wine. The saignée results process results in a rosé wine with a deeper color, silken texture and more complex and fully developed flavors.

2024 Folly of Man Pinot Noir

Folly of Man is a new vineyard site in the lineup for 2024. The terroir here is a varied mix of soil types, elevations and aspects and the wines mirror this energy and complexity. It is a notably cooler site than the rest that I work with and in 2024 is the most delicate, floral and earthen wine in the range. It is poised and full of grace and finesse balanced with a wealth of concentrated flavors, a silken texture and a persistent finish. This is violets in liquid form. Drink now through the next 10+ years.

2024 Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir

In 2024 the Eola-Amity Hills vineyard blend is 50% Orchard House, 36% Folly of Man and 14% Nuestro Sueño. It seamlessly marries the best characteristics from all 3 vineyards in harmony. The 2024 is brimming with freshness and offers a complex melange of crunchy red fruits, saline citrus notes and floral aromas of violets and rose petals. It is drinking very well now and should continue to improve over the next 3-5 years.

This is the most expressive, complex and intense wine in the range . The 2024 is all raspberries and blood oranges with remarkable density and concentration. Sage and violets are present aromatically and the finish coats your mouth in silk and is nearly endless. This is excellent now and will also reward cellaring. Drink now through the next 15+ years
